Trophy Revival

Millions of trophies lie dormant in attics, garages, and storage units around the world. Each one represents a long-ago moment of triumph or achievement, however fleeting it may have been. Trophy Revival is an ongoing effort to bring old trophies back into the limelight and recognize the wonderful and deserving people with whom we work, socialize, and play. So, get out your old trophies, break them down, build them up again and give them a new life! Maybe someone gets a trophy for making you waffles? Maybe someone tells the best jokes? Grows the most beautiful broccoli?

Here's how Trophy Revival works:

Dig out an old trophy and dust it off. Or pick one up at a thrift store.

Remove the person at the top - you know, the plastic guy with the awkward frozen tennis swing. Bend it back and forth until it snaps, unscrew it, or use a hack-saw.

Craft a new top for someone that has done something worthy of an award. You can keep it simple or get wildly creative - it's up to you. I recommend making it out of cardboard or other 3-D materials and standing it up with the help of a little duct tape.

Name the award and give it to the deserving recipient (i.e., you make their day). Share the Trophy Revival website with your recipient so that they can in turn be inspired to put their old trophies to use.

Did you recently give or receive a revived trophy?

If so, congratulations! I would love to have an image of the trophy for the online gallery and hear a bit about the award you gave or received. You can use the following brief form to share a few details. I may publish story details on the blog or this project page, but will not share last names or addresses.
