Paper Goods & Toys: Print & Make

Here are some playful paper goods designed by Lea. They are a gift from us to you. Just download, print, and make. Enjoy!

Vintage Spool Toy

The pattern for this vintage homemade toy was made by J & P Coats in 1932. Click on either image at left to download a high-res printable PDF version.

Assembly Instructions:
I recommend printing the PDF on card stock or gluing a paper print-out onto thicker construction paper. The original card has pre-cut sections to punch out, so just use an exacto knife and cut along those same lines: the four circles and the squiggly line above the clown and pig. Then fold in half, letting the part with the clown and pig stand up. Punch a hole, insert two thread spools in the large holes, tie on a string, and pull your spool toy around the house!

Tip: If your thread spools aren't the right size, and you have photo editing skills, just shrink or enlarge the image until the 4 spool holes are the right size for your spools.

Cootie Catcher: Artifact Advice

Click on each of the cootie catcher images below to download high-quality PDF files to print the front and back of the design. Fold into a cootie catcher and give people "artifact advice."

To play: First have your participant choose one of the artifacts shown on the outside. Then open the cootie catcher and spell out the name of the artifact as you open and close each side of the interior. Then have your participant choose another artifact. Spell it out again. Have your participant choose one last artifact and read them the "artifact advice" under the flap. For example, under the salt shaker is says: "Be like salt. With gusto, add the secret ingredient that brings out the best in everything and everyone else."
