changing clothes is an ongoing art project about the politics and ecology of clothing. it explores issues through a series of sculptures and activities that question the everyday world of producting, wearing and discarding clothes. you can see the brochure at the link below.

Changing Clothes

reminiscent of magic tricks and concrete poetry, I am devleoping mini performance pieces in which everyday artifacts reveal their extraordinariness. whether its a salt shaker r a hole punch tool, it's likely that these things are a lot more than you think.

i make life cards for people, which are like business cards, except that people get to inventt heir own title and highlight any part of themselves that they want to share with the world. we are a lot more than our professions, and sometimes it's nice to have a card to share our true human richness with others. perfect for a new friend.

i also teach and develop creative projects with youth. for example, at the edible schoolyard in berkeley, ca, students experience the importance of food, hands-on. my students and i gathered tea leaves and heabs inthe garden and handsewed our own tea bags with handmade tags, drying them in a tree
i needed a new pair of shoes. after much research, i was disappointed with the current social and environmental state of shoe manufacturing. so i got a sewing awl and stitched my own. the soles have the words make a new world carved in the bottom and stamp the phrase on beaches and trails.
